Italian Week- a glimpse at last year's festivities and of what's to come!

From the 5th of February through the 12th, 2009- the Italian Society hosted a nonstop, action-packed week of films, guest-speakers, and, of course, food and merriment to compliment the activities.

The Society began the week with a discussion on private equity, with guest speaker Mariafrancesca Carli, the Managing Director of  JPMorgan.

Film:

The week also saw two cultural events- an evening screening of La Vita e'  Bella, written and directed by Roberto Benigni. The following night, students were treated to Romanzo Criminale (Crime Novel), of Michele Placido.

Politics:

Two MPs from the Italian Parliament participated in an LSE Symposium: MP Francesco Narducci, the Vice President of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, as well as MP Guglielmo Picchi, the Florence mayoral elections' nominee. The Symposium was chaired by DR. Antonio Cordella

Business:

To finish the week, the Society brought in Italian entrepreneur Lapo Elkan, Founder and President of Italia Independent and Independent Ideas. His lecture was chaired by Giancarlo Bruno, the Director of Financial Services Industries, World Economic Forum
