Weekly meetings of the Executive Committee are generally open to the participation of Society Members, Alumni and LSE students interested in becoming Members themselves. On an ordinary meeting the discussion of statutory duties is complemented by an open discussion of themes of general interest and about Italy. Meetings are held in English, and, alternatively, in Italian. The Italian Society is one of the few LSE SU societies to schedule weekly meeting open to all members, something resembling the Union General Meeting (UGM). Elected Officers are the only ones entitled to vote unless a General Meeting is called (consult the section on Constitution). Transparency of decision-making is assured by open debate and the on-line release of minutes. Participating to the weekly meetings is fun and its a great opportunity to socialise between one lecture and another. Weekly meetings have been also held off-campus, in front of an aperitivo or a pizza. If you are Italian and you feel homesick, our meetings represent a chance to keep in touch with Italian public affairs and have a chat about weather and food. If you are not an Italian national, the meetings are a chance to get to know and hang out with Italian students as well as a way of keeping in touch with the latest Italian attitudes and public and political affairs. Click here to know where and when is our next weekly appointment!
